I have attempted to turn on Hands Off Trade to solve some issues with the stats program. If this has done anything extra wierd, please let me know. In effect, you just start teh routes, and the stats program will grow them over time for you.
With the exception of the file upload problems with Yahoo, this turn went very smooth. I think two weeks is looking pretty reasonable for processing next time.
Congratualtions to Denmark and Sweden for the first real player vs. player combat.
Paypal note: Using Paypal is a bit expensive for me. Not terribly so, but it gerts worse the smaller the
payment. As such any Paypal payment of less than $9.00 (three turns) will have those fees deducted from
the payment amount. In other words if you send me less than $9.00 you will only receive credit for the amount
that I actually receive aftere fees. If you send me $9.00 or more, I will pay the fees, and the full amount sent
will be credited. This is a slight change in policy form when the cutoff was $10. I fiugred $9.00 is better since
it is a whole number of turns.
The next turn will be due on Aug 13th. This is also a Friday the 13th.

Michinaga wasn't getting any younger, as such he was content to remain at home in Yamato and oversee the functioning of the court. While there he spent much time in temples, the peace an solitude suited him and he made many friends and allies amongst the priests. Wedding plans for his daughter Hitoshi were dashed when she gre ill and passed away shortly before her twenty-first birthday. All was not dark with the family though, Ishida was finally old enough to take his place as heir as his namesake once was.
Improvements were made all around the empire, especially in Hei-An, Ibusuki and Edo, and the trading fleet was expanded. Takeda's army in was expanded while he assisted in ruling from Dazaifu. He added a full two thousand elite footmen, and another thousand lightly armed scouts and skirmishers on horseback.
Mitsuki spent the entire period deeply engrossed in research, and found ways to bolster the morale of troops in the field. Needless to say, the inhabitants of the city were furious, and they rose up in great numbers. The fighting was fierce, and casualties ran high on both sides, but in the end, the Ghaznavids got what they wanted, large numbers of slaves. They lost a great deal in the process however, leaving over a thousand footmen dead, including some of the elite core of the army, and some of the highly trained siege engineers. Almost five hundred cavalrymen were lost as well, the city confines not being well suited to fighting from horseback. In turn, they destroyed a fighting force estimated at well over six thousand people, with varying levels of equipment and training.
After enslaivng the city, the troops took to looting the surrounding region, and then enslaving that population as well. Quelling the resitance movement in order to enslave the remaining population took almost half a year, but in the end was successful. Losses were similar to those from enslaving the city, with twelve hundred infantrymen and two hundred horsemen lost, having destoyed close to another six thousand enemy fighters.
From Sahis, Sulaiman went to Punjab where he met up with Ibriham, where Ibriham was given the slaves and sufficient soldiers to guard them.

Major investments into governing would hopefully pay off in the end, as the realm was quite expansive. As he was busy with affairs of state, he transferred his military command to Abbas, the Prince of Granada, keeping for himself only a newly raised elite bodyguard of a few hundred light cavalrymen. After the birth of his daughter, he set out to New Castille and Toledo to negotiate further with the leaders of the city and region. His negotiations went well, and he found a new ally in New Castille, and arranged a series of trade agreements with the city of Toledo.
Part of the agreement with his new ally involved a marriage to Abbas, who in addition to being the Prince of Granada was named heir to the throne. He also had eight new, fast but lightly armed ships built, and they received some of his elite crews as well. With that, he sailed for the Baltic Sea to take the fight to the Swedes.
His fleet of now almost sixty ships found the Baltic surprisingly peaceful, and so they set about attacking and sinking any fishing or
trading vessels out of Birka. This had the desired result, the Swede's came out to do battle. Losses on both sides were staggering,
with the fighting eventually coming down to only a few ships all of which limped off to lick ther wounds. Of course, some fo the ships

Diplomacy:
The lying bastards had the gall to accuse Sweden of having opened hostilities while Olaf had been carefully avoiding any aggression towards any of his fellow Scandinavians right up until the cursed Danes sent spies into his country.
The banners were called up, and help came pouring into Uppsalla, but a naval fight was looking inevitable as the Danes were strangling the fishing fleets that fed the city. Leaving his ground troops behind in the charge of Anund, Olaf set out to show those Danes what a real Viking could do.
Surprisingly he found himself outclassed, but not outnumbered. The opponent was fast, and his crews were sharp, but then so was Olaf. And his crews were no slouches either. With a good fifteen more ships than the Danes, he threw his forces into the fighting. The faster Danish ships ensured that he lost the element of surprise, but he was still confident that the gods were on his side.
The fighting continued on for days, then weeks, then months, with both sides coming out of the fog and disappearing back into it. The Danes were beaten off, but the cost was so high that it could hardly be called a victory for Sweden either.
Back in Brika, Anund set aside his research to command the armies in the defense of Sweden. But the attack never came, as Olaf stopped the fleet in the waters of the Baltic.

Henry
Diplomacy: Vermandios(ea), Flanders(f)
Henry remained in Paris ruling while the everyone else was involved in diplomacy. King Robert gained many concessions form Vermanios, but fell ill enroute to Dijon and did not survive long after his arrival. Grief following his loss was somewhat tempered by the birth of a son to Henry, ensuring the continuation of the royal line.
Phillip was also pursuing diplomatic relations, in Flanders in his case. He was incredibly successful getting a marginal member of the
kingdom to fully join. France's star was rising, and ongoing research into Magic would ensure it kept rising.

Henry
Diplomacy: Lorraine(f), Utrecth (f)
Karl found a bride for King Henry in Lorraine, and the marriage was enough to cement the ties to Lorraine. Karl, however, died shortly before his fiftieth birthday, and so did not live to see the results of his hard work. For his part, Henry was very happy with his new wife, and they were inseparable after the wedding.
Matthias continued efforts to negotiate an agreement with Utrecth, and eventually succeeded in joining the city
fully to the crown. While back in Alsace, Michael continued his research and found success in boosting the charisma
and negotiating abilities of someone through magic.

Diplomacy:
The slaying of Adalbert in Venice led to a full scale investigation. This in turn led to the uncovering of a society founded on dark arts and retrieving forbidden powers from the depths of the Mediterranean with a large presence in Venice. The fighting was brutal, but the cult was suppressed in the city, its base of operations destroyed, and it's members killed or scattered.
