From now on, I will be extra strict on sea travel. Leaders will need to have ships to travel across water. (You can have more than one leader on a single ship)
Also, NPNs will have a more active role in managing their domestic affairs. I am doing this in hopes of making some of the smaller positions more playable in the future.

Shogun Nareshi
Diplomacy: Sikhote(nt), Nigata(-nt)
Shogun Nareshi continued to improve the livelihood of many cities as a massive endeavour to change the nature of their society to become more open was successfully completed. Missionaries spread the Shinto faith in Suifenhe and the Marianas. There was also successful diplomacy in Sikhote, as the mainlanders there gave the Shogunate safe passage. However, not all the news was good news on the diplmatic front, as Joshiro's death at the negotiating table encouraged the Governor of Nigata to forgo further tribute to the Shogun.

Liao Chien, Khan of the Hsing'Nu, Imperial Governor of Liao Province
Diplomacy: Wudan(oc, revolts), Yen[Yen-Ching(a)]
The Khanate, raising another four thousand well-equipped mounted troops, decided it would be time to take the region of Shantung from the Honan, so they marched their troops into the region to conquer it. However, once they completed that simple task, they got news from the North that the Mongol horde had moved against them in Wudan. So they quickly left Shantung (just as the Honan army arrived to reclaim the region), and met the Mongols on the fields of Shangtu, where they had already pacified the people, and were about to begin looting the countryside as they did in Wudan.
Battle at ShangtuLiao Xi-Ju, a very capable commander, was leading the Hsiung'Nu army composed of over 10,000 heavy cavalry, and had the help of Zi Chan and many informants to help him plan out his defenses. Takata, Khan of the Mongols, was no slouch himself when it came to military tactics, and was confident, perhaps over-confident, that his army, which contained about 8,000 heavy cavalry, 14,000 regular cavalry, and 26,000 light cavalry, would carry the day. However, being caught off guard initially in the attempt to loot the region of Shangtu, Liao Xi-Ju handily carried the first battle and forced the Mongols to retreat. Takata, enraged at this defeat, regrouped his army and charged the battlefield once more, this time suffering an even greater defeat, as Liao Xi-Ju seemed to know his every command! Takata, once again, this time joined by the Khan of the Uighurs who trailed behind with Spotted Goat, would charge the Hsiung'Nu army. Once again, Liao Xi-Ju outmaneuvered the Mongols and forced them to retreat, but not before capturing the Uighur Khan and killing the Takata himself! Takata's son Kanata would take up the position of Khan, and give up on the attack, withdrawing completely into the region of Wudan. In all, the Hsing'Nu lost almost 3,000 troops, while the Mongols lost 11,000 troops in all.
In other news, the city of Yen-Ching has agreed to a full alliance with the Khanate through the diplomatic efforts of Zhon Li.
