United States of Asia (Yamato) Onabi, First Minister of the Diet
Diplomacy: Akita (a), Kazan Retto (t)
Speaker Onabi won his reelection with promises of even more prosperity in the future. He directed bigger and better economic improvements.
Urbanization continued, with Hagugori, Besuboru, Heian, and Hejudo increasing. The cities of Edo and Heian received many new sewers and aqueducts. Several thousand men labored to remove the remaining forests from Akita, transforming the region to cultivated.
General Jumanji snooped around the back alleys and byways in Yamato, but didn't find anything untoward. General Toyota made a good impression in Akita.
Admiral Akira set out north to test his legendary exploration abilities once more. From the Kurils, he set out northeast, eventually mapping the route to a cold sea zone that he named Cape Lopatka. Upon returning with the rudders, Akira received a hero's welcome, and he was once again lauded as the best explorer the world had ever known.
Admiral Hamaguchi was able to map part of the route to Palau.
The Kin Horde Takhat, Khan of Kin
Diplomacy: Wudan Horde (fa), Higgan Horde (nt)
Khan Takhat ignored the fun in China for now. He drove his horsemen northeast, picking up the Wudan, but only getting a free passage agreement from the Higgan.
The Lu'an Chinese Kingdom H.U. Lee, Supreme Monarch of Lu'an
Diplomacy: Shentung (nt)
H.U. Lee pushed for the final destruction of Shensi. He led the entire Lu'an army west, picked up the large garrison in Houma, and roared into Shensi like a storm. But his troops had heard about the hordes, and were susceptible to scare tactics [see Shensi].
Pienching, Kaifeng, Yen-Ching, and Peking grew larger The Dalai Lama sent some chests of silver.
The Shensi Chinese Kingdom K43A,
King of China
Diplomacy: None
Qin Guan seethed with rage that the Mongols had wrecked his economy. Otherwise he would be able to hire ten or twenty thousand of the plentiful mercenaries. And no one would lend him any money, on grounds that Shensi was about to be destroyed. But too bad. He would have to make do with what he had.
Lu'an agents failed to steal the 1 gold piece in the Shensi treasury. And troublemakers sent by someone to stir up the Shensi peasants didn't cause any major harm. Meanwhile, Qin Guan planned a nice surprise for the Lu'an army that he knew would be returning from the east. Amid all this intrigue, Qin Guan never noticed the black-clad ninja. Qin Guan's numerous bodyguards found him dead on the floor, an arrow through his heart. H43A took the throne, becoming K43A.
The Lu'an army arrived in August 1061. Rumors started flying that the Mongol Horde was back in the area. Shensi agents spread the word that the Mongols were planning to smash the Lu'an army the same way the Shensi army had been crushed a few years ago. As discontent heightened among the Lu'an army, H.U.Lee tried to rally his troops. But he is a dull and uninspiring leader. Almost half of the Lu'an soldiers deserted to avoid the Mongols. Some became mercenaries, but none joined Shensi as K43A had hoped.
The Shensi didn't stand a chance. There were literally no troops to defend the region and the empty capital. King H.U. Lee pacified the region and city, capturing the government, espionage group, university, and merchant fleet, and shipping them off to Peking.
All this, combined with the Mongol Horde's actions, was too much for the Shensi Chinese Kingdom. It disintegrated.
The Mongol Horde Batu, Kucha Khan
Diplomacy: Turfan Khan (ne)
Batu was expecting a little gold from the Buddhists for leaving Lu'an and Ch'in alone, but no payment came. It must have slipped their minds.
Thinking of the situation in China, Batu chortled with glee. "Heehee. Those Shensi are a battered, empty shell. Now is the perfect time to swipe what's left!" The entire horde trotted back to Shensi. On the way, the wise (or, less politely, old and crotchety) General Khul died in his sleep. From Shensi, the main horde headed north, while the Shan Khan headed into Shentung. There he looted the region and sacked the undefended city of Chengtu. On his way back through Shensi, he was not surprised to find thousands of Lu'an troops securing the region and city. He asked them nicely to let him go on his way north, and after a little wrangling, they let him pass. The Shan Khan headed north to rendezvous with the main horde.
During this time, Batu and the rest of the Mongol Horde were quite busy. They looted and sacked their way through Huang, Xining, Shan'si, Tai'Yuan, Yun, and Ta'Tung, leaving stripped fields and empty cities in their wake. Only at the walls of Ta'Tung did the Mongols suffer significant losses. There, the city's defenders left a few thousand nomads dead at the bottom of the city walls, before succumbing to the swarm. Afterwards, the Mongol Horde rested, and complained about the heavy and numerous bags of loot weighing them down.
The Chin Kingdom Che II, Divine Overlord of the Middle-Kingdom, Lord of the River, Son of Heaven
Diplomacy: Tangchou (t), Kiang'si (fa, rebelled), Fukien (f), Chinling (t)
Appalled at the fate of the Shensi Kingdom, Che II ordered staggering improvements to the defenses. Each and every city received nice walls. Dozens of field forts were strategically placed to defend the Kingdom. City garrisons increased. But the economy was not neglected. New citizens moved into Jiujiang and Wonton.
Che II and Che III traveled to Tangchou to persuade the rebellious region to join. The Emperor himself painted a dire picture.
"Notice that all of my regions and cities are being fortified against the threat of Hordes. Two of these abominations are already at the Great Wall and could crush you like a bug. Whatever lands are part of my realm, I will protect. Who is not of my realm, I will shed no tears over their fate."
In a case of excellent timing, Che II was able to point to the looting of Shentung and the sack of Chengtu. "See? As we speak, the barbarians fall upon your northwestern neighbors. Choose wisely." In addition, Che II offered his 18-year-old daughter Shati in marriage, and Che III took a wife from the region. Tangchou saw the light and joined the empire in a tributary status.
Prince Che Ho was released from his prison cell in Zhuangzu. He went to Chinling, married, and drew the region into the Middle Kingdom.
Che III didn't spend enough time ruling to have any effect. Kiang'si rebelled because of the distance from Nanking.
Bacphan Zhuangzu Fei-Tzu Yensung, Overlord of South China
Diplomacy: None
Fei-Tzu Yensung finally forgave Che Ho for spying on him. He sent General Chu to return Che Ho to Ch'in lands. General Chu spoke on the matter:
"By the peace that Buddha teaches and that the Dalai Lama shows, we come in peace. Though the journey to peaceful coexistence is not easy, it is by far the most beneficial. That is why we are giving you back Che Ho, a brother to all of our peoples. His rightful place is here within the Ch'in Empire and that is where we will deliver him. Emperor Fei-Tzu Yensung has asked me to deliver this message. I do it with eagerness. All transgressions are forgotten, a product of another generation. Let this new union flourish and bring us a golden age. Peace to all our brothers in China."
Meanwhile, great economic improvements sprang up across the empire. Shantou and Xiamen expanded, and irrigation projects were sprinkled throughout South China. Also, the postal road stretched out from Lingnan through Lingsi into Gouangxi.
Young emperor Fei-Tzu and spent his evenings with his wife. She bore him a girl and three boys. And there was much rejoicing.
The Celestial Kingdom of the Jade Buddha Po Po, 6th Incarnation of the Blessed Jade Buddha, Light on the Path to Nirvana, Illuminator of the Human Soul, Thinker of Deep Thoughts, Mayor Shangri-La
Diplomacy: Tz'uk'an (ch), Salween (ne)
Po Po sent the usual monetary assistance to China and Southeast Asia. Missionary work in Assam and Palas went poorly, given the new persecutions enacted by Palankala.
Buddhist monks reached out towards their Hindu counterparts, trying to bring Hinduism closer to the Path to Nirvana. But the Hindus weren't buying it.

The Katoomba Riders Aran, Chief Hee Nalu-sen
Diplomacy: Toowomba (ea)
Finally, the Katoomba sprang into action. The Chief got tired of playing on the beach. He took the name Aran. He and Doran went to Toowomba to discuss closer relations. To highlight the benefits of centralized rule, Chief Aran had some fountains built in the city of Allul. And he sent a small bri ... er ... token of his esteem for his beloved Toowomba brethren.
Without really trying, the heir Boran became proud papa to three bouncing baby boys.
The Molucca Seahold K477, Arikara of the Molucca Te Anu
Diplomacy: Dolak (c), Sabah (nt)
K477 moved more citizens into Jailolo. Then he sent his fearless leaders out to expand the kingdom. L555 and P989 didn't have much luck in Dolak. L491 did slightly better in Sabah.
The Javan Federation Yaraja, President Sirivjavan
Diplomacy: Aceh (h)
Yaraja won his reelection. He increased the populations of Kadaram and Tarai. General Jarakoni and the missionaries assisting him converted more of Utara's populace to Buddhism. In Aceh, General Jarayao ticked off the locals with his superior city slicker demeanor.
The United Monarchy of Burma His Majesty the King Tran Vinh, Monarch of all Burmese People
Diplomacy: None
Tran Vinh looked out upon the land from the palace at Pagan. He came to recognize the trials and tribulations that the People of Burma encountered in their day-to-day existence. "When I took power, this was one of the things I was going to change," he thought. So he stepped forward and slammed the mark of the great seal upon a proclamation for a '20 year plan'.
Let the heralds go forth and announce to the people that their burden shall be lightened and their lives eased! Let the advisors, seconds, judges, and lieutenants take heed of the four compassions of the Lord Buddha, for his illumination has set the path before us. The land shall be remade and Burma shall be much improved!
As it is said, let it be done!
So the overseers and their conscripted labor, with the People of Burma, went forth and much work was done in Thaton to build better housing, roads, and sewers. The royal road from Pagan to Narathu extended to Thaurin, and a new royal road was constructed from Honan Phen to Bangkok.
The Monarch looked upon their work and was pleased.

Palankala Daldrum, Guardian of the Ganges, Divine Wrath of Kali
Diplomacy: None
Daldrum ordered a round of city expansion. Maghadara, Dharaharama, Bihar, Gaurhusa, Tamralipti, and Hanuradin got new residents. And the port city Ajbar was built on the Kalinga shore to replace the destroyed city of Bombphan.
Next, Daldrum wanted to make things right with Chola. He shipped them a few chests of gold, as reparations. And he arranged the return of the Cholan university and government assets that Palankala had taken. General Apu loaded up the books, professors, agents, and administrators on a few warships and set sail for Kollam. But they never made it. No one ever heard from him or his flotilla again.
In other news, Daldrum finally lost his patience with the unwelcome advance of Buddhism into his regions. He said:
For decades now, the Buddhist cult has been attempting to expand into India. They have insulted our ways and laughed at our gods. No more! The preaching of Buddhism inside Palankala will no longer be tolerated. Anyone breaking this rule will be immediately arrested. Anyone twice guilty will be executed. Furthermore, unauthorized attempts to convert this nation will be viewed as acts of hostile aggression, and we will respond with whatever force is necessary.
The army was put on alert, and indeed many Buddhist preachers were arrested. The most annoying and persistent among them were beheaded. This put quite a damper on their efforts. Hinduism gained ground in the region of Palas.
The region of Samatata is now cultivated, by the effects over time of the city of Bhuphaala.
The Chola Mandalam Kakatiya, Mandala Chola
Diplomacy: Madurai (f)
King Kakatiya waited in vain for the stolen university, espionage, and government assets to arrive. Upon hearing of the disappearance, he sent out a search party. But the searchers found no sign of the missing ships from Tamralipti.
But big things were going on in Chola. New transports put out to sea. In Malabar, the sacked city of Banavasi was rebuilt. Madros expanded. King Kakatiya organized a headcount of all people living in the empire. And last but not least, Kakatiya's wife bore him two sons.
Xanthi Empire of Xanadu Palpatyn VI, Grand Poobah of the Xanthi Zieterund, Rajah of the Rajputs
Diplomacy: Surashtra (ne), Sahis (ne)
The Grand Poobah began work on a royal road from Uttar Pradesh to Tarain. Reichan, Kyoko, and Limu each expanded to surround their freshly-built fortresses. Darth didn't have much of a chance in Surashtra, but at least they're not hostile. Delia and Laurin had bad luck in Sahis, and the region wouldn't budge.
Sultanate of Sind Shah Zahim, Mansurashah, Protector of the Indus, Barrier of Allah
Diplomacy: Surashtra (aw), Peshawar (hs)
Shah K347 decided to call himself Zahim. He improved the defenses somewhat, and sent his lieutenants forth to smoothtalk some regions. L847 really stepped in it during his visit to Surashtra. He was overheard making obscene derogatory jokes about the local satrap's daughter. Surashtra declared war on the Sultanate of Sind. L32A blew it almost as badly in Und, making the region hostile.

The Kutai Horde Zoltan II, Kutai Khan
Diplomacy: Betpak Horde (a), Otrargh Horde (a), Kama Bulgar Horde (a), Nogai Horde (nt)
The Kutai made peace with Merv. Zoltan sold his slave herd to Ibram ben-Uthman for a bit of gold. Then he turned his eyes northwest, toward the Volga river. It was time to ride. The 100,000 or so nomads pulled up their tent stakes and moved out.
In Tarhain, talks with the Betpak Horde went well. They allied with the Kutai. And in Tabolsk, the Otrargh Horde also joined in an allied status. The horde continued west through Otrargh lands until reaching Khirgiz. There, Zoltan's good fortune continued, when the Kama Bulgar Horde joined him.
In Ghuzz, the khan of the powerful Nogai Horde would only agree to give free passage. Perhaps this minor setback annoyed Zoltan, because his next action was the looting of Saksiny, which yielded an unexpectedly large amount of gold. In 1065, the horde swarmed into Bolgar and looted the region. The Kutai now number somewhere in the 200,000 ballpark.
As Zoltan looked over his teeming masses, adrenaline surged through him. He would crush anyone who opposed him! The soft and lazy civilized nations would tremble before him! He began to think about settling down before all his allied leaders keeled over. He could think of a lot of nice places.
The Shahdom of Merv Ibram ben-Uthman, Shah of Bactria
Diplomacy: Dasht'Kavir (c), Persia (c)
Ibram got a great bargain on several thousand slaves from the Kutai Horde. He used them to build some much-needed regional improvements in the shahdom. He sent Prince Kalit ben-Uthman to talk to Dasht'Kavir. The desert region was not much impressed. Prince Aden ben-Uthman got off on the wrong foot with Persia.
The Abbasid Caliphate Mu'hammid Al'rahi, Kaliphat Rasul Allah
Diplomacy: Selucia (nt)
Mu'hammid Al'rahi pounded his fist on the table. "Why are we just sitting here doing nothing?! We are the most powerful nation on earth! Let's act like it!" The floodgates of the royal treasury were opened. Many thousands of heavy elite cavalry swelled the ranks of the army. The royal road was extended from Antioch to Alzaj and from Raja through Basra to Busehr. New citizens moved into Kirkuk, Kraznovia, Raja, Alzaj, Ramallah, and Basra. New fortresses were sprinkled throughout the empire, and old one reinforced. And last but not least, enormous new canals, aqueducts, marketplaces, and local roads now improve productivity in Hahmar, Mosul, and Abadan.
And then the Abbasid Caliphate really sprang into action. Mu'hammid Al'rahi personally led a humongous army west along the royal road toward Cilicia. Somewhere around 100,000 cavalry had no trouble at all forcibly converting the region to Sunni Islam. Next, they moved west into Isauria to conquer the region and show them the ways of Allah. Resistance was increased by the field forts left over from the Eastern Roman Empire, and Lord Saeb fell from his horse and got trampled to death. But there was no real chance for the defenders. Isauria became Sunni Islam as well. Satisfied, Al'rahi returned to Mesopotamia in triumph.
Imam Al Muslim Shahil, Siadat Kuran, "The Sustainer"

Prince Theodore would have done better in Rhodes had the Italians not showed up.
Kingdom of Russia Ivan II, the Wanderer, King of Russia
Diplomacy: Veposkava (a)
Gustav was able to get a full alliance from Veposkava. The city of Moskva experienced a population explosion. The years of peace, and the absence of other cities to attract new citizens, must have caused the rapid growth.
The Polish Kingdom Marko II Brodzinski, King of Poland
Diplomacy: None
Marko directed economic improvements. Stuttgart, Warzau, Praha, Lodz, and Gdansk all expanded. And the royal road from Warzau to Praha is now complete. Workers in Galich continued clearing the forests, so one day the region may be under full cultivation.
Marko was extremely unhappy with Moldavia. He gave Lord Stiffen a mostly infantry army of 30,000 and told him to solve the Moldavia problem once and for all. Lord Stiffen marched straight to Moldavia and attacked the region. The Moldavians didn't fare too well. The Poles took few casualties. Next, Stiffen declared that all people in Moldavia would henceforth practice Roman Catholicism. This went over like a fart in church, so he had to send his army around the region, destroying the old idols and setting up chapels. After the unpleasantries, Stiffen left a garrison. Next, he went slave raiding in the northern forests. He wasn't able to make it back to Kauyavia like he planned, because the slaves slowed him down.
With some help from the Pope, missionary efforts continued in Galich. Now around one-third of them are good Catholics.

He didn't have any trouble giving away the gold, but no one took his preaching to heart. Later, Maximo from Italy showed up, expecting to find refugees to bring back to Genoa. But there were none.

Notes:
Your name appears in parentheses if your balance is negative.
I will not process your orders if your balance is negative before processing.
A negative balance at the beginning of a second consecutive turn will cause your nation to go Open for a Player.
Also, three consecutive turns of no orders received will cause your nation to go Open for a Player.
