LORDS OF THE EARTH | |
CAMPAIGN X | |
Turn #94 | Industrial Stage One |
1529-1531 Anno Domini | Renaissance Era |
Builds: If it's not connected to your HBZ by land that you control, you'd better ship the NFP there, even if you own it. This applies to cities, megalithic constructs, and pwb - anything you build with NFP outside the HBZ. See rules 5.4.5 and rules notes in 5.7 and 6.0. This does not include Primate, Merchant, or SE constructs (such as Cathedrals, Branch Offices, Cultic Temples, etc). Build Chart: Please note your new build chart does not include Regular or Inexperienced units. The old units are being phased out and are marked with a z in their name to indicate that they are obzolete. You can demobilize them as normal. Also allowed is a half upgrade, where you downgrade 1 unit to light, and use the gp difference to upgrade a unit to heavy in the same group. All Z units anywhere do not require a leader to upgrade or half-upgrade, just gold. Spirit Christian: A new religion has appeared on the Religious Interaction Chart. Essentially a combination of Native Amerind and Catholic, with a little EuroPagan thrown in for good measure. |
MaxTax: MaxTax is in effect in Lords 10. 1.95 this turn. Bribes: I'm moving to a new system very similar to Lords 1. Lots of dice to see what your bonus is! Feel free to send your favorite GM a pretty D10! Princes: Note to self, Constitutional Monarchies can't have them. Be sure to have them all mysteriously die next turn. Support Diplomacy: This Operation helps one (1) leader for the whole turn, all of his Diplomacy actions, not just per Diplomacy. Many of you list it on your orders as if it's per diplomacy action, which is not the case. Field Fort Limits: There is now a limit on the number of field forts (SF) you are allowed to build and support. That limit is the regional gold point value (rGPV) * siege army quality rating (sAQR). Any over that limit must be demobilized and will not count in battle. | |
LORDS 4 & 10 UNIT CONVERSION

THE AKA'MURRID EMIRATE OF FULANI
Mohammad II, Emir of the Fulani, The Philosopher-King of the Sahel
Diplomacy: Kitsanga(ea) Susu(a) Kanuri(t) Niani(f)
Mohammad finished the cultivation projects of Boure and Galam. Artillery tech kept coming from the coptic Aethiopians in exchange for food. Man-power was in short supply, so the Fulani held off on the proposed economic reforms.
Fulani agents were sent to copy Aethiopian tech manuals again. Hopefully that's all they were copying, since the Aethiopians allowed them to go everywhere. They weren't so lucky off the coast of the Sea of Dogs or the island of Bioko. So unlucky as to easily enter the Almoravid vaults only to find them empty.
THE SUPREMACY OF TOGO
Oduduwa, Supreme Oba of Togo
Diplomacy: None
Oduduwa was visited by Marwan the Almoravid...
THE MARWAN EMIRATE OF BENITOGO
Marwan, Emir of the Bight
Diplomacy: Akan(hm)
Prince Marwan felt that he would be unable to find support in the north. He talked with Oduduwa and so they came to an agreement. Walls were built around the more popular cities.
THE BANTU KINGS OF OKOYO
Ogourke, Ba King
Diplomacy: Uige(a)
Ogourke sent a message to Casablanca entreating him to assist with his grand cultivation plans. A road was started up into Lui and the homeland was beautified.
THE KALID EMIRATE OF THE CAPE
Kalid, Emir as Cape Town
Diplomacy: Cape(hm)
Kalid spent three years preaching like unto Mohammad in the Cape. His lieutenant worked his silver tongue. Similar to Marwan's efforts in the north, the Cape was named as the Emirate's new homeland. An Aethiopian expedition force arrived in 1530 to purchase maps and charts to the Buengula Current.
THE GREAT ZIMBABWE
Jol, Chief of Zimbabwe, Holder of the Five Twin Jackal Chair
Diplomacy: Tizra(ea)
Jol again accepted the Aethiopian gifts and, like the Fulani, attempted to spend lots of gold on artillery quality. But without ever having seen any men use artillery the gold was lost. The Zimbabwe people couldn't understand the technology of the Christians.
The Chief issued the Edict of Religious Tolerance, allowing and even encouraging the spread of other religions (such as, oh, for example, Coptic Christianity). Coptic Christianity isn't so bad, as it turns out. Trade was taken over land with the Aethiopians.
Sion, Softsmelt, Lesser Zimbabwe, Shalozar, Mopizza, Greater Zimbabwe, XaiXai, and Daread were increased in size. Zanzibar was on the list to be expanded, but Jol didn't allocate a fleet to transport the resources and labor to the island. More gold was needed for Jol's projects in the wilderness regions of Ruvama and Mapungubwe.
No less than 10 new cultivation projects were initiated. In an unfortunate set of circumstances, most of Jol's lieutenants died in 1530. Samuel, the oldest was 73.
THE BORKOU HORDE
Dead, don't matter
Diplomacy: None
The Borkou found themselves without a king early in 1529. Aethiopian agents were everywhere, as well as diplomats and various products with "Made in Krakas" stamped on the bottom (a true sign of quality). With no leadership, the cries for mutiny rang loud and long.
THE KRAKAS EMPIRE OF AETHIOPIA
Pelam I, Alem 'Elum, Emperor of Aethiopia
Diplomacy: Kerkoure(H)
The walls were blown from Soba, Faras, Luxor, Dongola, and Amada as they were expanded beyond all natural bounds. All projects received some sustenance, but because they weren't due to be completed for at least another year, none were completely paid off in advance. Several regions were enriched and many were colonized, expanding the fields with new agriculture techniques. Among these are the regions of Kassala, Adowa, Sennar, Amhara, Nubia, Baraka, Danakil, and Zeila.
Technology was sent west to Fulani and South to Zimbabwe. Gobbu's said: "Time to get Africa up on its feet!" These words would prove most prophetic in the years to come.
Prince Basqu was ordered to head to Denjuba to function as second in command of the reactionary forces there. It took him most of 1529 just to get to the ferry at Danakil. He died soon after arriving; the sweats and shakes. Prince Cristuf took command of the forces at that point.
Delkura headed East out of the port of Aseb with more than 600 of the best warships in the world. Joseph Abung and the East African Mercenaries joined him. He sailed all the way to the Andaman Islands to Aethiopian Port Blair. Here he waited and watched for trouble for more than a year and a half before setting sail for home.
Krestos gathered up all the cavalry in Daza, unable to contract with the West African Mercenaries in Ngarzagumu, and then headed east to await his Emperor. Gobbu took close to forty thousand men west to confront the threat of the Horde.
Diplomat Ambuti spend many an hour writing farewell letters to his family in the event that he should be taken prisoner or killed on the dangerous mission Gobbu had given him. He made is way to Salamat and then struck due north into the steppe of the Southern Sahara desert. The tribes were in disarray. He took his time organizing and coordinating the efforts of the agents previously sent in to cause unrest and mutiny among the horde, finally gaining their trust. He then headed south, leading them to join with the rest of the Krakas army.
At the end of 1531 Ambuti arrived with the fruits of his labors to find that Gobbu was dead. In the months before his death, Gobbu heard about Ambuti's successes and said: "It used to be boring around here, now it's getting a bit exciting!"
THE SULTANATE of IEST
Imad ibn Khalid, Sultan of Mahidia
Diplomacy: Asir(t)
Khalid sent Anwar and Abu Said west with a buttload of gold to help the Almoravids retake their possessions in Northwestern Africa. Missionaries completed their work in Ad'Diffah. The Sultan issued the following decree:
Iesti recognizes WHOMPCO as the legitimate holder of title to all merchant sites in Iesti, WHOMPCO has our permission to move its troops into our cities containing rival sites to enforce this decree on the holdout locations.
Imad was given conflicting orders from his father. Stay at home to try to increase the royal family and to react to any invasion, keeping the homeland defenses ready at a moments notice. This indecision only lasted for a year before Khalid died at the age of 55 pushing Imad into the public eye and at the full command of his nation's forces. He continued to spend time as any Sultan would, with his harem. He trusted that Hashim would take the army if anyone attacked. But who would be foolish enough to do that? He had a daughter in 1531.
THE ALMORAVID EMIRATE of ANDALUSIA
Hahziz, Emir as Sevilla
Diplomacy: None
Hahziz vacillated between spending time with his wife, or defending the Emirate. For a few weeks he thought, well, if anyone attacks I'll defend! He kept thinking this as he dallied the hours away with the fairer sex. His men forgot all about the civil war, figuring Hahziz knew what he was doing, and got back to their dice games and such.
The Chekiangese Grand Tour is free to visit Seville!
THE ALMORAVID EMIRATE of IBERIA
Sheik Bahiyy al Din, Emir as Iberia
Diplomacy: None
Unlike Hahziz, Sheik Bahiyy al Din took the civil war VERY seriously. He mass conscripted from the territories that he did control, he taxed the people severely, nearly causing a depression, and he neglected the royal road projects in the south. The merchant marine was ordered to work as transports. He attempted to take merchant shipping directly off routes and turn them into infantry and artillery squads, but found that was impossible. With this he set out immediately for the islands of Madeira, far away from the agents of Iesti and Andalusia seeking his head.
Andalusia: In the south Nasani and his Iesti lackeys were marching through Idjil and Agadir, Bojador and El Aaiun, finally taking Arguin and Dokhla itself. Fayez took Gambia and Senegal, capturing several Medici Syndicate resources and labor on the coast. Jaafer took Bioko and Al Figuig from the Benitogo.
Arguin: Bahiyy al Din and Jacob Goldberg head through and take Algarve and Kazmedina. Then they hit Andalusia itself in May of 1530. Here Hahziz and the Mercenary Mosheh ben Iaco array their forces, though not strictly in defense. Many of the Andalusian forces are confused and surprised since they were spread out all around the region. But outnumbered more than four to one, the Arguins were forced to retreat back to Algarve. Unable to take the old capital, Shiek Bahiyy al Din could not carry the civil war on any longer and is now forced to declare a new homeland and capital.
THE KINGDOM OF MORAY
Angus Og Mac Donald of Islay, ifth Lord of the Isles, Lord of Argyll and Kintyre, Earl of Ross, Captain of Clan Donald, Ri Innse Gall
Diplomacy: Strathclyde(A) Orkney(ea)
Boniface granted Angus's requests, so the ifth Lord worked on relations with Strathclyde and Orkney.
THE SULTANATE OF ELSUT
Jaraah bin Zulfaqar, Regent of Ingiltarra, Sword of Sayyidina Ali
Diplomacy: None
Jaraah sat paralyzed in fear of what the Anglians would do. Luckily WHOMPCO sent some mercenaries to defend Elsut. [See Anglia]
THE KINGDOM OF ANGLIA
Beaucleric, King of the Anglians
Diplomacy: Bah!
Beaucleric decided not to press his claim on the throne of Saxonia, apparently intent on making Anglia his homeland. He initiated trade with several nations from the pacified ports he did control.
Carrying on Henry's original mission to wipe out the heathen infestation in Angland, he sent Kierek to Mercia with more than five thousand heavy cavalry and nearly 50 cannons. Easily pacifying the regions and kicking all traces of muslim occupation (but not muslim people) out, Kierek continued on to Wessex to take it and the undefended city of Winchester. A few small warships were captured as well.
General Randall moved over a hundred pieces of heavy artillery and a third as many battled hardened engineers to the formidable walls of London in 1529 to begin an active siege. The mortar shells and explosives destroyed the walls quickly, mostly due to Randall's expertise and the fact that London had inadequate leadership. Shipping was captured from the five lucrative trade routes based there. Elsut was unable to take in the refuges flooding in from the east end city.
THE NORMAN KINGDOM OF SAXONIA
Phillip, King of the Saxons and of the Normans, Count of Blois
Diplomacy: None
Phillip was amazed that Beaucleric held no desires to rule in mainland Saxonia. All was not peaches and cream though as relations with Perigord decayed. Castille dropped to economic allied status as well.
THE DUCHY OF PERIGORD
Roland, Duke of Perigord
Diplomacy: None
Roland chose not to continue his vassalship to Saxonia with the passing of Henry.
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Boniface X, Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Servant of the Servants of God, Supreme Pontiff on the Universal Church
Consecration: None
Boniface ruled the church. At 54 years old, he is one of the oldest men his family has every had.
THE ARLES EMPIRE OF ITALIA
Octavion, Rex Lagobardum, Imperator Occidental Romani, Defensor Christos
Diplomacy: None
Octavian quickly filled in any gaps in what Guastone stole, for instance government and intel capacities. Air Corps were built in a couple locations around the Empire, the first of their kind, with the expectation that they could be useful in the coming battles. Money flowed a bit too freely as agents swarmed the countryside with caches of gold in their saddlebags; specifically in Romagna. Octavian wanted the entire province to mutiny.
Lord Alfonso was assisted by Lieutenant Bene as they marched south with more than three thousand men and assorted towed mortar. In May of 1529 he arrived in Calabria. There he was forced to contend with the large field fortifications he knew would be there. What he didn't count on was his men staging a mutiny during the battle. Alfonso was captured while Bene was barely able to escape with a wound, to hide out the rest of the war in secret. The now-Freestate led army marched north...
Lord Leoncino sailed west to Corsica where he unloaded his thousand heavy elite men at Basilica, taking it and Corsica for Octavian.
Octavian himself was assisted by Lord Rogero. They decided to use a wait-and-see strategy for a year, planning to leap upon Guastone as soon as he made his presence known. Didn't have to wait too long. He found that Guastone had marched north across the bridge at the Po into Lombardy in May.
Octavian marched north. He soon learned that Guastone had marched east to take Verona along the roads, then back to Lombardy. When he reached Liguria in July, his scouts informed him that Guastone had taken Savoy, so he moved the army north.
By the time Octavian had arrived in Savoy, Guastone was in Provence. He then received the worst news possible. The mutinied army in Calabria had marched north, taking the undefended capital of Rome. At least he was able to reclaim Savoy and Pavia for what was left of his Empire. He marched south.
When he arrived in Liguria in April he discovered Guastone! Here he would finally dispose of the pretender. He arrayed his army, more than fifteen thousand men, 2/3 heavy elite infantry and several artillery pieces as well. Guastone had a little less than thirteen thousand men. Over the course of the battle Octavian was able to see Guastone killed, forcing his army to withdraw to Genoa with a vast majority of his men fleeing or wounded. They had to regroup. Taking very little damage himself, the army of the Octavian saw the way clear for them to run south.
Octavian moved most of his army to Tuscany seeing that the Civil war had come to an end with the taking of Roma. Tuscany would be the home of the Empire now and for the time being. With the loss of Roma, Madeira joined the Freestate as well as Ciboney and Porto Edoaro. Octavian considered his options. Possibly he would be requesting aid from his fellow Imperialists in the coming years, considering all he's done for them in the past...
THE FREESTATE OF ITALY
Filippo de Reggio, King of the Freestate
Diplomacy: None
Guastone was tipped off by richly dressed courtiers, suspiciously speaking of kidnappers in the area. He sidestepped all that and marched with his army north to liberate the people from Imperialism talking of the New Republic!
Guastone was killed by the Imperialists at Genoa. Filippo of Reggio, captain of the mutinied army of Italy who had taken Rome in the name of the Freestate in September 1520 claimed the throne. Octavian's wife and toddler sister were captured by Filippo. He also took the offices of government from Octavian and preached of the new republic to the people who would hear his words; Filippo would now be the new King of Italy.
THE MEDICI SYNDICATE
Cosimo d'Medici, Guildmaster of Medici
Diplomacy: Georgia(fa) Tirnova(c)
Capitalization: Liguria(mf) Provence(mf) Lyonnais(ma) Vienne(ma) Campania(mf) Accra(mf) Reggio(ci) Apulia(mf) Romagna(ma) Lombardy(ma) Merano(ma) Venezia(bo) Pescara(bo) Spoleto(mf) Bari(mf)
Once again, Cosimo was very successful with his investments. He decided to shift all of his shipping, converting pretty much all of the merchant marine to transports for the Syndicate. He opened several new routes and initiated a grand economic project. He renounced the Medici claim on Mobacka and appointed his younger brother Marco as his heir.
Marco d'Medici sailed to Senegal to build the a port city named Dakar. When he arrived in 1529, the region was empty of Arguin forces. Without direct permission, but without anyone telling them they couldn't build the city, they began the construction. Marco sailed off with the first winds of 1530.
Cosimo attempted to convert the economic alliance relationship that he had with Brittany into a factory, confusing a treaty alliance with a physical construct where people work and build objects, house trade goods, provide safe houses for illusive field agents, and push papers of a trade nature...
The newly build factory in Accra could not be supported by the control network, since the nearest branch office was in Porto. Dakar mysteriously was not built on schedule.
THE EMPIRE OF HELVETICA
Otto, Grand Doge of Helvetica
Diplomacy: Berlin(f) Alsace(f) Hesse(f) Champagne(c)
Wilhelm's grandson Phillip was found crying in the basement, the kidnapper was only his own curiosity. Otto figured out how to create balloon units and now the German cavalry is the best in the world. The bridges around the Empire started decaying further, beyond their damaged and broken state, since the government would rather expand cities and build field fortifications that deal with projects.
Otto sent missionaries to Hordaland and Sussex. He married, but lost his wife during the stillborn birth of their first child in 1530. Otto mentioned that "Saxonia looks to be doomed; they will have to find a way to appease their own people, as we are attempting to." Later he was confounded at how tricky those secret cults could be.
Otto sent Hilyer of Burgundy to Champagne to conduct diplomacy, to enlarge the kingdom of Burgundy. Since Champagne was currently held as a tributary directly to the Empire, and Otto had not expressly declared that they were free of their obligations, Hilyer was only able to convince them to drop their status with the Empire, and not fully join his Kingdom, even though they shared a common tongue.
THE NORDIK KINGDOM OF THAERY
Kjel Goldnose, King of the Danes
Diplomacy: Hordaland(H)
Maxim also learned the art of sending men and hot air filled bags into the sky. Like his southern German neighbor, Maxim also neglected all of the Kingdom's projects, most of which were scheduled to be completed in 1531. He did however dictate that the following cities be expanded: Kobenhaven, Bremen, Oslo, Kristiansand, Goteborg, and Malmo. Unfortunately, Kobenhaven, Oslo, Kristiansand, Goteborg, AND Malmo all continue to be separated from the homeland by the Skaggerak, and no part of the fleet was given a command to ferry labor and colonists to the cities.
Maxim III died late in 1529. His son Kjel took control of the army and trained with them in the field, on react to any foreign incursion. Nearly the worst diplomat in all of Thaery, Gunnar was wounded fleeing from the hostile Hordaland pagans.
A fever broke out in Malmo, wiping out the entire population. The fever spread to Goteborg, reducing it. Neither city had any shipping or trade based in it.
THE GRAND DUCHY OF CRACOW
Stashu II, Blackjack Duke of Cracow, the King of the Polka and Bochnia
Diplomacy: None
Stashu shuffled over back to Cracow to rule the Duchy. Men and supplies were sent to Ozu to complete the cultivation projects. Stashu plans to send diplomats there soon, too.
THE KINGDOM OF THE BALTS
Dmitri, King of Baltica, Prince of Novgorod
Diplomacy: Kirivich(N) Tver(nt) Vitebsk(nt)
Dmitri neglected all of his projects and so each one of them decayed some, since half of them were due to be completed before 1531. Instead, he started a new royal road from Tulagrad to Chernigov. Boris sailed 80 warships out of the north sea, through the Gates of Hercules, and up into the Mare Negri to create a southern flotilla at Chernigov.
Yuri was given more than half of the entire army of Baltica and ordered to exact revenge on the Dihaj. He easily took Kama Bolgar and then moved on Suvar. With Suvar being a friendly part of the Dihaj Khanat, there were no defenders. Yuri looted the region which prompted an uprising, which was easily crushed. The army was a tad overzealous and refused to give up any of the gold to Yuri. The small village of Togliatti was sacked and burned. Yuri was able to get the money from the sack.
Dmitri married and had a boy at the end of 1529 and then a daughter in 1531. With the thin government, Kubishev, Kotlas, and Yaroslav reduced in status.
THE DIHAJ KHANAT
Battah, Mighty Servant of Allah
Diplomacy: None
Battah considered building a canal from the Black Sea to the Volga. Maybe he'd even name it after himself.
THE ROMAN EMPIRE - Phormion Dynasty
Stavros Phormio, Imperator Romanus, Basileus of Constantinople
Diplomacy: None
Ilias continued to expand the government in order to control more lands. He backed that up with improved training techniques for his artillery. Galatia was completely cultivated and a new road was constructed from Troy to Ephesus. Naukles, with support from Kosmo, pulled six thousand men home to Constantinople from the steppes of Atelkuzo and Zaporozhie. Naubolus died in 1529 on his way to Banat.
In 1529 Ilias Phormio passed on. His son Stavros continued the dynasty. Fleets of the Roman Empire successfully acquired maps to the New World.
General Cyrano with mearly four thousand men and a lot of deadly explosives hit Isauria, pacifying it easily in 1529. He then went on a rampage, militarily converting the lot. Next he assaulted the formidable walls of the independent city of Attalia. Attallia itself was led by a brilliant commander, on par with Cyrano himself. The differences lay in the battle intelligence Cyrano was able to receive as well as the Roman's higher siege quality.
Narkis was wounded and Galerius was killed in the first push. On the second, Narkis was killed but the city suffered huge losses. The walls weren't breached, though and the city held out. Cyrano suffered a wound as the walls finally gave, forcing him to call off his planned military conversion of the city.
THE DAR AL ISLAM EMIRATE
Hassan Pasha, Emir of Baghdad, Amiiru l-mu'miniin
Diplomacy: None
Hassan waited, paralyzed in fear and despondency.
THE SECRET EMPIRE OF THE BURNING SWORD
Hammad Abu-Hassan, Keeper of Secrets, Master of Lies
Diplomacy: Diyala(a)
Ali and Al Jlyal paid a kings ransom to the Diyala princes for the release of Hammad. Aziz spent a few years successfully conducting a census.
Hammad refused to spend any resources on the flood damaged bridges and roads in the Empire, now heading into a second decade since their collapse. Some engineers believe that they must be completely torn down before they can be rebuilt.
LAHILLA PRIMACY OF ISLAM
Lahilla ibn Rumi abd Allah, Caliph al Islam
Consecration: None
Lahilla prophesied that in the future, large restaurant chains would freely admit their use of animal products in the preparation of their deep fried tubers.
AS SHIRKI AL BAHRI AL BASRA (SBB)
Abdulla Noir, Kalifat Rasul Allah, Captain General of the Basra Overseas Trade Company
Capitalization: None
Abdulla agreed to continued talks with WHOMPCO.
THE BOGAZGOL HORDE
Bogz, Grand Khan of the Desert, Destroyer of Civilization
Diplomacy: None
Bogz headed south into Dasht'Kavir to loot the region and then sack and burn the city of Masshad. With the taking of the desert region, he interdicted any silk route trade to the west.
In the next year, he rode west into Kumis, this time confident that he could take on the Ghorid garrison. The garrison was indeed beaten, as they ran for the safety of the low walls of Rayy. Seeing that Rayy's walls had not been increased in size since the last time he approached, he decided to test a siege. Unfortunately the wall commander was a shrewd man and was able to take the garrison and put them to good use. Unable to take the city, Bogz rode home. He found the Ghorid in his lands.
THE GHORID SULTANATE OF AFGHANISTAN
Omar II, Sultan of Afghans
Diplomacy: None
Like most mid-east rules, Omar also ignored his flood damaged projects, witnessing the decay that occurs with unkept labor. The resources were spent instead on more lucrative places, like aqueduct improvements along the silk route. Nishapur was rebuilt as well.
Ghorid agents were sent to Tabaristan to root out and kill Bogz then to cause mutiny among the horde. They were unsuccessful. Ufandin took a little more than three thousand men from Khurasan to occupy Gurgan. Late in 1531, the Bogz came to kick him out. Abdel Bin Kenobi was going to whack the Bogazgol with a big stick, but the stick had already been given to another leader.
Omar III started building a family, siring two boys in 1529 and 1530. His wife died during the birth of their third child. Omar sent a man to report the effect of holding one's breath while under water. He didn't get the results.
The entire army was handed over to Rahmani with orders to attack the Harayuk Rajput Empire. They crossed the boarder into Multan early in 1530. He started hacking his way through the field fortifications. Duganarda couldn't stop the Ghorid forces. They continued on to pacify Punjab.
ISGOC didn't even attempt to send cartel trade income.
THE TARA HORDE
Batu, Grand Khan of the Steppes, Destroyer of Civilization
Diplomacy: Turfan(absorbed) Tangut(absorbed) Tsinghai(absorbed) Astin(absorbed)
Batu continued to absorb the Taklimakan Shamo tribes to his cause, picking up an additional thirty thousand men. Crossing south into the mountains, Batu lost all contact with the steppe that he originated from. The horde gained some much needed government workers to assist Batu.
THE CHALUKYA KINGDOM OF BANAVASI
Ekoram-varman, Maharaja in Banavasi, Yogi of the Maldives
Diplomacy: Dahala(f)
Ekoram did built walls around all his cities and field fortifications in all the areas he felt were key. ISGOC didn't even attempt to send cartel trade income to Chalukya either.
THE HARAYUK RAJPUT EMPIRE
Rupika Chandravara, Khan of Khans, Master of Kaunaj
Diplomacy: No Effect
Chandravara arrived in Maghada in March of 1529 with nearly thirty thousand heavy cavalry and elite men with heavy gunpowder support. Toghril Khan was actively besieging the walls of Rajshahi with a mixed force of more than forty thousand mostly cavalry, and another seven thousand mercenary forces, including heavy transports in the Lower Ganges.
With the mercenary leadership under the horde in the battle of Rajshahi, the more than 200 heavy transports were sitting ducks for Lavva Tonin's heavy warship fleet of 50 ships. With no where for the fleet to hide, and no leadership to move them out of harms way, even if they could sail faster than the warships, they were mostly captured by the Harayuk Empire.
Chandravara hit the horde two weeks later, in the middle of the horde's siege of Rajshahi. This gave the Harayuk quite an advantage in the battle. In a short and bloody battle, Tohril's forces were routed. They took heavy losses during the pursuit to the bridge at Gauhati. The disorganized forces of Toghril were cut down by the elite cavalry forces under Chadravara's command.
Jak Chan of the Hidden Dragon attempted to secretly conduct diplomacy among the pacified peoples of Manipur. The garrison of Manipur was none too happy, especially since he had a force of more than two thousand elite infantry that were really hard to hide behind his back, no matter how big his coat or sleeves are. Without orders to specifically attack the garrisons, Jak just stayed out of range, still attempting to get them to join his army, forsaking their loyalties. Jak Chan died near the end of 1531, and so his men returned to Bamboo Grove.
In 1530, with a two pronged attack, mercenary forces of the HRE joined Chandravara in Assam.
Several construction projects were finished in 1529 and 1530, including the royal road to Chitor, Nadavaria, and the cultivation of Sagaing.
THE ANGORA HORDE
Toghril Khan, The Fuzzy, Khan of the North
Diplomacy: None
Lieutenant Merkid was nearly killed by a trained monkey offering him poisoned dates. Bad monkey!
Toghril escaped the lands of the Rajput Empire with barely 1/5 of his original forces, and none of the slower forces. He took refuge in the port city of Dukou.
IL SINDACATO GRANDE ORIENTALE COMMÉRCIO (Republic of Portale D'Oro)
Don Santino Carpachi, Il Doge della Portale D'Oro
Diplomacy: No effect
Capitalization: Kwangchou(bo) Saigon(bo)
Sebastian, heir to the Il Sindacato Grande Orientale fortunes, sailed off with a small force of elite warships through Makassar waters and the Coral Sea. A sailor who decided to take a swim while the fleet was moored off the coast of Papua was killed by a Box Jelly Fish. The final destination for Sebastian was the small island group of Vanuatu.
Nicole Bartolli died in 1529, before he could really make any headway in the branch office at Aseb. Same thing for Cadoni in Srivijaya. Lorenzo Pasquin died en route to Mon. His replacement, called up from the fleet he was commanding, did not have the diplomacy knack.
Pitzi was unable to upgrade the Branch Office at Kundara to Cartel City status. This bode disaster for the ISGOC plans. The mercenaries in India could not be brokered without a cartel city to base out of, and Goa was out of range from the rest of the combine - it reduced to a branch office itself.
Other offices were found to be outside of the ISGOC control web. Gao, Linan, Miyazaki, Chinao, Changan, Antizani, and Jamnagar all reduced. Since only branch offices and the cartel cities can support their shipping, this cut deeply into the Sindacato's income.

The viceroy shared technology with his trade partner, the Hidden Dragon of Chekiang. Zhen Xiao built a viewing platform on Komodo Island so that he could feed Tiger Rahadi to the large lizards that dwell there. The Aethiopians were unsuccessful at capturing him, so were the Tongking. If you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself. He slithered up the sea lanes to Pegu...

Cultivation projects continued apace as well as city improvements. Missionaries found complete success in Parhae, but were dismayed when Mudan dropped to economic allied status due to their pagan ways. Dinh Rin dropped his transports into the local fishing communities to improve the harvest.
THE NIHON EMPIRE
Mugai Nyodai, Empress of Nihon, Regent of Showa II
Diplomacy: Sikhote(ea) Suifenhe(ea)
Miyazaki and Kumamoto were expanded and the ferry to Saga upgraded some as well.
General Tsugi loaded five thousand Nihon regulars onto Admiral Jaizo's fleet and sailed across the Dozen Wan to unload at Pusan. With this force he conducted a regional genocide on the hapless pagans of the province. Tsugi was wounded but was able to crush the Sillans and then butcher them and their culture out of existance. Admiral Jaizo arrived later in the year with the Nihon colonists

Diplomacy: Sangamon(c) Rum(ea)
Mark moved on to diplomacize Sangamon and Rum.
THE ADENA EMPIRE
Pepin Lawenro II, Great Chief of Adena
Diplomacy: Quapaw(fa) Cherokee(N)
Pepin couldn't afford to keep all of his projects in working order, so the royal road to Scioto started more than a decade earlier decayed due to negligence. On the other hand, Miami's project was completed, reducing the support costs on the royal road from Erie. Public works were built up in Wilksboro and Adena.
BONNY KINGDOM OF MERCAIN
Prince Titus, Elder King of the Land, Sword of the Vanished Tribes
Diplomacy: None

Diplomacy: Chimu(H) Tumbes(nt) Porto Leon(fa)

Even though the Inka own no warships, his commanders assure him that if he were to build some, they'd do well in battle. Even better than the fleets he didn't build last year. They also commented that his clothes look marvelous.
THE WAJ MAPU CHE
Lord King Biedes, sovereign over the Four Parts of the Devastated Earth
