LORDS OF THE EARTH | |
CAMPAIGN X | |
Turn #105 | Age of Imperialism |
1562-1564 Anno Domini | Renaissance Era |
Amazingly, the game doesn't process itself, no matter how long I wait. Land Based vs Sea Based Action Points: Once a leader leaves his ships (for example, to conduct Diplomacy in a port) he returns to his Land Based movement rate. Region/City Movement: Yes, it costs at least 1ap to move to or from a city. As an example, here are the orders for a merchant traveling in uncontrolled regions and cities south of the Caspian Sea: Jibal -> (1.5) Kumis -> (1) Rayy, (3) AA -> (2) Kumis -> (3) Tabaristan Notice how when moving from Jibal into Rayy it cost only 2.5ap, while moving from Rayy to Tabaristan it cost 5ap - this is due to the Royal Road. Turn Fees: Turn 106 I will institute a rule similar to Lords 28
|
Sequential Build Restrictions: Certain builds take an entire turn to perform (although for clerical reasons are usually done at the same time as the rest of the builds). What this means is that you may not take advantage of a given build of this type on the turn that it is constructed. For example: you may not base MSPs or build PWBs at the increased city capacities until the turn after the construction is done. Similarly, PWBs may not be built in excess of a region’s old terrain type the turn it becomes cultivated or colonized to a higher GPv. So plan accordingly. These are:
Founding Colonies where the Locals may object: There is no problem with players using the Colonize Region action against already occupied regions or cities. Keep in mind that a revolt check will occur however, and a successful one means the loss of the colony unless the leader performing the CR action has troops with him and wins the subsequent combat, in which case the colony will be established at turn’s end. Players wishing to anticipate the unexpected my attach a CR action at the end of any attack and or siege action in anticipation of establishing a victorious colony upon their defeated victims. Keep in mind that having all those colonists (with their reduced AP amount) will have an effect on your ability to wage war. |

COLOR CODED NATION HEADERS: The Colors coded on each nation represents your technology level. Tech 1, 2, 3, & 4, Tech 5, Tech 6, Tech 7, Tech 8, Tech 9, Tech 10, and Tech 11. CONTACTING ME

OPEN POSITIONS: If you're dropping, let me know ASAP. Positions are usually available first come, first served. RULES USED IN THIS GAME This campaign uses the ThroneWorld's 5th Edition Revised Rulebook (v.5.10.0) and the Modern Rules Supplement (v3.3.4). Also, I've made EXTENSIVE changes and clarification to these rules - all listed on the Rule Notes web page. These notes are added and tweaked every time I come across something that I think needs to be clarified or *gasp* changed, although, if it seriously negatively effects players, I'd probably give them some warning. BTW, the 6.0 rule set is coming. OBTAINING THE 5TH EDITION RULEBOOK: The Rule Notes web page contains links to the rulebook's - free PDF downloads! THE KINGDOM OF MORAY

Diplomacy: None
Conan continued to rule the Kingdom while the twins learned the court rituals.
THE SULTANATE OF INGLAND
Dharr Ralif ibn Abdullah, Sword of Sayyidina Ali
Diplomacy: Northumbria(t) Lienster(F)
The Sultan spent the years moving the capital to London while his son Tireless-in-Faith marched up to Ipswich to meet with the charismatic holy man preaching to the leaders there. Les protected the Holy Man from mercenaries sent by Saxonia offering whisk to whisk him away. In 1563 the Prince converted to Roman Catholicism and moved to Anglia to assist the Holy Man. At the end of 1564 Anglia converted and then nearly revolted from the Sultanate.
The Sword of Sayyidina blamed the famine on the wrath of Allah and his lack of faith. Gold was sent to Saxonia in hopes that they would send food. Combined with the move of the Capital to London, the following regions and cities revolted: Ipswich, Connaught, Elsut, Mercia, Amal and any claim to Munster, Northumbria and Hull, London, Ulster, and Wessex. With the loss of the ports, the Sultanate's trade suffered greatly, with most of the routes rebasing to the tiny port of Winchester, even though trade was being stopped by the insurrectionists in Wessex.
In London, the Sultan was set upon by revolutionaries. He was able to escape, but he lost the battle. The move of the capital was aborted though, and the rest of it still in Elsut. The saga will continue...

A large fleet loaded up with cannons and marines at Barcelona with more than a hundred ships under the command of Jan O'Hara in May of 1562. They sailed south to pick up more warships and supplies and a fleet of Italians at Charlesbourg in January, 1563. By June, due to the monsoons winds in the Bight of Benin and Kongo Sea, they were unloading twenty thousand men on the beaches of Vili, deep in Okoyo lands. The Saxonians attacked Vili and set up a garrison. With the relatively slow moving heavy infantry this took most of a year, ending in May of 1564. They then marched on Kongo and attacked the region.
By the end of 1564 the Normans had secured the regions of Vili and Kongo and they did not have port for their fleet. No casualties were taken by the land forces during the whole campaign maneuvering within enemy territory, but the fleet suffered heavy losses during the monsoons.

Sadly, Federico di Medici was detained in Georgia and so was unable to meet up with the fleet as ordered. Antonio Ulio returned to the home office rather than complete any further harrowing exploits, like the kind in Acre. Fortunately, he was able to salvage the agent already placed there.

Manchigudai took command of the horde and remained in Diyala. Later, he met with a foreign Prince secretly and then locked him away.
Khirgizkhan along with the other allies of the Jurchen took over the defenseless city of Mari where they met representatives from the Basra Overseas Trade Company. The city was sacked and then burned, consuming all buildings in the conflagration. The allies then attacked and looted Diyala. They waited out the winter and then started enslaving the population of Diyala.
In May of 1563 the Roman general Nauteus rode in from the north to smack the Jurchen with his thirty-five thousand men and cannon in tow. THE GATOTKACA OF ANGORA
Daginada, Sengkuni Khan
Diplomacy: None
The government increased, as well as siege craft and much needed trade range for the Angora ventures.
Dagan, the son in law of Daginada's first daughter, was proclaimed heir to the Sengkuni throne when he proved his manliness by producing a son. A census was conducted of the Gatotkaca's far flung holdings.
Dagan's brother in law took part of the fleet with a tribe to the shores of Luzon to build the port of Angora.
Daginada saw the diplomatic gains in Chittagong as a direct threat and took immediate action. He marched the main host of the Angora horde north along his royal road in Burma to Samatata where he, along with his second in command who sailed the mighty war fleet up from Bassein, set up a passive siege of the heavily walled independent city. The Khan saw the city gates open within 4 months as the food supplies ran out quickly. A Makassar agent was found among the city nobility who was ejected from the country, his visa revoked.
The final tribes of Angora were used to turn the pacified city of Chittagong friendly.

China |
THE HIDDEN DRAGON OF CHEKIANG
Quan Zhuang, Celestial Emperor of Chekiang
Diplomacy: None
Chekiang military quality rose across the board and the enforcer squad grew. As far as expenses, the Empire focused entirely on the military as well, building ten thousand heavy l33t infantry at Lin'an, another ten at Yixing, and more than a hundred cannon there, too. Walls were thrown up around Chah Barar and Siraf, as the preparations for war were most intense there, apparently preparing to withstand a massive siege. In the port, several thousand men disgorged from the newly arrived fleets. The combined mercenary forces of India and South East Asia sat in Chah Bahar defending.
The Celestial Emperor commanded that Ciao Zhong forces and both the Syndicate and the Basra Overseas Trading Company be granted free passage through all Chekiang domains. Rajputi fleets are allowed portage in all ports and their leaders and armies free access to all regions west of Gt'sang. In March, Quan Yitsang died suddenly in his throne room, elevating Quan Zhuang to Celestial Emperor. Quan Zhuang himself was leading twenty thousand men to the staging areas at Rangoon, arriving at the end of 1563. In the west Prince Quan Yiguang sailed to Danakil were he could not persuade the horde to load up on his mighty fleet and so, he returned to Chah Bahar, where he died, like his younger brother before him.
Admiral Wang Badan sailed from Omarra to Rangoon in Prome where he waited (and waited) for the Emperor to arrive with fresh recruits for the war. When they were loaded he sailed back to Omarra. The populace of the city were surprised when, after unloading his forces, he attacked, placing a garrison of four thousand heavy elite men on guard duty. He finished his activities there by the end of 1564.
In the Middle East, Burning Sword shipping was captured from Siraf, Bandar, and Chah Bahar.
Spring 1562: forces of the Burning Sword Empire along side those of the Iesti Sultanate, having no contingency plans for the massive defenses built up around Siraf, liberated the region of Mand. During the maneuvers, Prince Abdul of Diyala was captured. The armies proceeded to liberate Hormuz, but left the Bandar alone because it had walls also. They moved on to Makran to attack the invaders and force tribute from the region itself. By the end of the year, all three regions were once again controlled by the Empire. Their armies returned to Khuzestan the following year.
1564 brought the Roman Empire to the walls of Siraf. Ignoring the passive stance of their Islamic allies, more than thirty thousand Romans assaulted the walls, finding that in fact the walled city had no leadership and only a little more than five thousand men. Again at Bandar, the Romans blew down the smaller walls. By the end of the year the Romans were at the gates of Chah Bahar. Only with the mercenaries Lun Ang Chhoub and Achyuta Kamakshi assisting the inept Hei Go were the Chekiang able to force the Europeans to retire.

In Yumen to the east, Lieutenant Twang Guo was leading an equally large army of more than thirty thousand men, also pacifying. Twang Guo then rode through Tuhnwhang and on up into the forests of Beshbalik to continue the attack. Finally, Twang Guo besieged the Zoroastrian city, enting 1564 there. Several hordes were disrupted by the advancing Zhong armies...
In the south, Admiral Hei Pan loaded General Wang Lein and fifteen thousand men at Hong Kong. They sailed to Thaton to unload on the beaches of the non-paying tributary and then lay siege to Fido. The overwhelming numbers could not take down the walls and suffered sever casualties.
Famine hit the Ciao Zhong as well, with a Red Tide sweeping most of the coastline of China.
Several regions and cities revolted from the Empire, even the capital, although Chin Le was on hand to pacify the resistance.
